According to the social watchdog site NoHomophobes.com there was a strange spike in homophobic language after the election of Donald Trump.
NoHomphobes.com a website created by The Institute for Sexual Minority Studies and Services at the University of Alberta, Canada, catalogues ever use of the terms “dyke”, “no homo”, “gay”, and faggot, to display how prevalent the use of these homophobic slurs are.
Since 2012 the use of all terms related to homophobia has steadily decreased, perhaps a sign of changing times. But the day after the election of Donald Trump use of the word Faggot on twitter, jumped to 32,000 in one day. The total for January was 8,000.
Harassment has skyrocketed since Trump’s election.
