Equality Wiregrass is pleased to announce we will be collaborating with Research Initiative on Social Justice and Equity (RISE). RISE is a national interdisciplinary research team and community committed to critical inquiry regarding systemic inequalities. The RISE research team is particularly focused on issues of race/ethnicity, social class difference, gender and sexual identity, public health, disability issues, and the intersection among these factors.

Later this summer, Equality Wiregrass will be hosting a training seminar led by Dr. Kamden Strunk, Ph.D. of Auburn University in the Wiregrass area. We are seeking individuals interested in helping with a research study on the needs and experiences of LGBTQ Southerners.

Specifically, we are seeking individuals living in Alabama who are interested in helping with the research study by becoming Community Interviewers. Community Interviewers will receive two days of training on research methods and interviewing techniques. They will then contribute to the research project by conducting interviews in their community with LGBTQ people.

This research study will help identify areas of need and common experiences to better inform public policy and the work of community agencies in the area.

If you are interested or would like more information please contact Equality Wiregrass at info@EqualityWiregrass.org or Dr. Kamden Strunk, Ph.D. of Auburn University at kks0013@auburn.edu
